LinkedIn for Lead Generation

LinkedIn is a powerful social network for business professionals that allows you to increase and strengthen your business relationships.  But is also can be used to generate leads for your business.  Below are a few tips.

  1. Join and/or Create Groups - Below is a video on how to search for relevant groups and how to get started with creating and promoting a group.  Use groups as an opportunity to establish your position as a thought leader in your industry.

  2. Experiment with DirectAds - this LinkedIn feature allows you to target very specific audiences for your ads.  According to LinkedIn, you can target 7.9M decisions makers, 1.3M small business owners, 5.5M high tech managers and 4.4M corporate executives.  Of course, you can get much more targeted than these groups.
  3. Answer Questions - Use the Answers feature of LinkedIn to identify questions that are being asked in your realm of expertise.  Take this opportunity to post relevant links to your content if it helps to answer the question.  If these links lead to lead capture pages, this can be a direct source of leads.

  4. Integrate social media - leverage social media as a normal part of your marketing.  For example, consider integrating Twitter and your blog so that relevant posts can flow through LinkedIn to increase exposure.  Make sure to utilize landing pages in your marketing so that you can capture leads from your efforts.

If you use LinkedIn for lead generation and have other strategies and tactics to add, please offer your suggestions.
